What I capture in my art is the intertwining duality of the harsh and the delicate, which is my perception of the world of contradictions, and also of myself.
I show this divine intertwining of opposites by combining harsh materials with delicate color and soothing compositions. Harsh materials such as painted fur, matted string, and objects found on the ground or in the trash have intrigued me most as I find these are the best outlet for emotional expression and catharsis.
My paintings have always been, consciously or subconsciously, small, time-encased self-portraits. I associate my studies of the world of contradictions with how this information directly affects me as an artist and also as a human being.
I opened my studio practice to include teaching many years ago, and now have over 15 years of teaching experience, mostly with painting and collage instruction, but also several years of coaching/mentoring instruction.
My work has been shown and sold in galleries and private collections across the USA, as well as London, England and Florence, Italy.
